Lookit! A New Blog!

Hey everyone, my name's Lindsey, and welcome to Girl With a Byte! Yeah, I know the name isn't all that great, I'm working on it, so shut up. :P

Annnyyywaaayyy,

This is a blog about technology. I'll be posting tips, tricks, news, and my own technological experiences.

For example. Last night was cray. My tablet, which I love so much, decided to derp pretty hard core. I was working through Google Drive, and left my tablet open on a document I was editing with a friend. Well, after thirty minutes of it being open, I got off my lazy arse and went to edit.

But the keyboard wasn't popping up when I tapped the document. Weird. I tapped it some more, but still no keyboard. That's when I noticed the pop up that said Drive couldn't connect to the internet, please try again.

Well, that's even more weird considering I had full bars of internet. I tapped the clock (I'm running Android 4.0 by the way) to check out my stats, and that's when things got even weirder.

My tablet claimed it was ten pm, June 21st of 1971.

Um. What?

I tried a few different things. Shutting off the tablet, turning off the wifi, changing wireless networks, anti-virus scan (Avast!, the free version), toggling the date options to be manual and back to internet-based; EVERYTHING I could think of at the time. And no dice. So I just left it shut off for the night. (And no, I didn't feel like putting in enough effort to manually change the time and date. Go figure.)

This morning I turned my tablet back on and it still said the wrong date. (Though sometime while I was messing around with the options above, the time changed to seven pm, December 31st 1970, and then to January 1st 1970/71 I can't remember.)

So I sucked in my pride, manually corrected the date, and poof: I got my internets back.

Just goes to say folks, that sometimes you have to do the dirty work yourself, instead of relying on the programming to do it for ya.

And with that note, I bid everyone good day, happy weekend, and good-bye.
